Yes, spring is finally here!
A month after its official start, little miss sunshine has eventually decided to come out and brighten our days – although she kindly skipped spring and immediately went for a summer-vibe here in Paris, reaching 30 DEGREES CELSIUS last week! – But, after endless weeks of cold and wet weather, you won’t hear me complain!
Spring has always been my favorite season. I love to see everything change around me! The trees are growing back their leaves, flowers are blossoming and brightening the streets with their wonderful colors, birds are starting to chirp again, people are leaving their houses with a smile on their faces, gathering in parks or sitting on the terrace enjoying the beautiful weather, kids playing outside, laughing, eating ice cream and next smudging it everywhere! Ohh yes, the true sensation of spring! – It sounds like magic, doesn’t it ;P
To be honest, I was a bit worried I wouldn’t experience much of the above when coming to Paris. I grew up in a small town living next to a forest and thus I’m used to seeing this process from up-close. Now that I live in a big city, I was afraid on missing-out on all that – and what was I wrong again!!
Paris has yet to disappoint me!! Spring has never felt more present! It surprised me how much of an impact weather changes can have on a metropolitan and its people. The moment the sun is peaking through the clouds, Paris turns in this utterly different world wherein everything just is “magnifique”. From grumpy in the metro to smiley in one of the many beautiful parks, the transformation is stunning. – What a bit of sunshine and vitamin D all can do!

And so, my stay here in “la ville d’amour” is still going strong. As far on my progress of becoming a real Parisienne, I think I can safely tell you that I am tourist-off! – Considering I don’t need google-maps any longer to navigate myself around the city. – I even start to get a bit annoyed by the mass of people swinging their selfie sticks up in the air – I assure you, one day, I’ll get hit! – and walking in front of your feet on the way to school and back home. – seeing my irritated face-expressions and hearing me curse in French, I must come across like a real local to tourists :D
All in all, living “la vraie vie en rose à Paris!”
Liefs
Bente
