It’s been two weeks since I’ve visited Sausalito with my friends. Sausalito is a small town just 30 minutes north of San Francisco, and ever since being here, I was eager to go there!
There are many ways to reach Sausalito from the City: you can go by bus or car, or for the athletes among us, you can take a walk or a bike ride crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. We on the other hand opted for the ferry. You can get your tickets at the pier behind the historical San Francisco ferry building. Just hop on the boat and you’ll be on your way!
We were really lucky with the weather that day, so the view of the city, form the water, was just breathtaking. – I couldn’t control myself to stop taking pictures ;) – It only takes about 30 minutes till you embark in Sausalito, but on your way over you’ll pass Alcatraz and San Francisco’s Lovely red bridge.
When arriving in Sausalito, I could not believe my eyes! It was like I jumped on a plane and suddenly ended up in Italy. The architecture and overall atmosphere reminded me of the little towns at the Mediterranean Sea. – I immediately got in the holiday-mood.
At first, we decided to walk alongside the water to see what this magical town had to offer. But quickly, we walked in on a local, and started chatting with him. He kindly told us the best places to go for food and recommended us to an Italian place in downtown Sausalito – out of the tourist area. – Since we already had the feeling we were in Italy, we were determined to go and eat some great pizza!
Before going to the restaurant though, we first explored the downtown area and walked further down the boulevard. When passing through the town, we stumbled upon this cute and picturesque alley. - Considering our group exist out of people who are obsessed with taking pictures and are constantly walking around with their camera’s – we couldn’t let this opportunity slip away. So we took a few nice shots till an elder man came walking towards us with some coats. He gave all the girls a nice jacket from his store and started telling us how to pose in front of the camera. – it turned into a photoshoot real quick J - At first, we were a bit stunned, but then decided to just go with it, and I must say that those inner models popped up. – The model-industry better be prepared – It was a unique experience to say the least! I haven’t laughed so hard in quite a while.
But let me tell you that all that modeling made our stomachs growl. It was time to eat pizza! We followed the local guy’s directions and sat down at the pizzeria Sandrino. Because of all the delicious menu options, we ended up ordering a couple of pizzas to share. Let me just tell you that these were one of the best pizza’s I had in a long time! If you ever make it to Sausalito, go and treat yourself on a real Italian experience.
Unfortunately, all good things come to an end as it was time to go back to SF. But how can you go to Italy without getting a gelato? NOT! So, on our way back to the City, we stopped at Lappert’s ice cream for our delicious dessert. – The ice cream was so good, I forgot to take a picture of it ;)

I truly had the most amazing time with my friends, and even though I love SF, it was nice to escape all the craziness for just one day.
